The Arts & Technology Academy Participates in National Day of Service
- On Tuesday, April 21, 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which for the first time includes federal authorization to establish September 11 as an annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance.
- On September 11, 2009 DC SCORES coordinators and volunteers came from the Corporation of National Community Service, Up2Us, Washington Freedom, and Real World (Reality TV Program) to participate in a soccer field beautification and pep rally service project at The Arts & Technology Academy Public Charter School (5300 Blaine Street, NE). Students and volunteers shared in the activities of painting the school’s soccer field, building new soccer goals, building spectator benches, and the painting of blacktop with beautiful artwork. The day wrapped up with the volunteers performing the ATA school cheer taught to them by the students!
2008 - 2009
ATA is Selected for The Kennedy Center's On-Location National Film Production Program
- ATA is one of ten schools chosen across the country for On Location: Spotlight on Your Community. The program is designed to allow students the opportunity to tell the story of the arts in their community, which will be shared worldwide on the Internet. The school will receive a media equipment package, and both students and teachers will be trained in storytelling, filmmaking, editing, and producing video stories.
ATA Students Receive 1st Place in the DC Scores Golden Mic Poetry Slam
- ATA brought home a first place trophy from the annual DC Scores Golden Mic Poetry Slam. This is a huge honor and the first year that ATA has achieved this accomplishment. Adora Willis also won the "Shine Award" (fourth year in a row that an ATA student has achieved this honor) for the best overall individual student poet. Our students truly worked hard to achieve these honors and we are extremely proud!

- ATA Receives Award for Program and Fiscal Management
ATA received the following recognition from the Office of Federal Grants Programs: Certificate of Achievement, Executive Director’s List Award, in recognition of Highly Achieved Programmatic and Fiscal Management.
