Academics and Programs

ATA is a dynamic elementary school in Washington, D.C.'s Northeast quadrant, which provides private school learning experiences to DC residents at no cost. “Our school presents the arts, technology and core curricular subject matter in an integrated, exciting and engaging way - all geared toward broadening our students' horizons and developing the whole child,” says Errick Greene, Head of School. The school’s mission statement adds an additional layer of developing the child intellectually, morally, and environmentally, and guides the school’s powerful model of success for D.C.’s children.

The curricular mixture of academics and the arts seeks to "propel" students beyond their economically depressed community. The arts form the foundation for building students' academic prowess as well as a way to connect students to great artists and leaders who were nurtured within their community. By design, the school’s program reflects the strengths of their heritage and creates many ways for students to express themselves and to excel. Music, at the heart of both a child’s cultural learning and academic foundation, is one of ATA’s greatest strengths – and one that administrators, teachers, parents and students are eager to see grow.
